Lackluster Budgeting
I was talking with me mum tonight about whether she planned to stay in the house I'm renting when I move to Albuquerque. She said it would cost too much for her to stay here. The bills and rent total $1,000 per month. She works, plus has $1,000 per month in alimony.
However, according to her, paying for life insurance, accidental death/dismemberment insurance, long term care insurance, car insurance, and her phone bill already totals over $1,000. This is after she stopped contributing to her 401(k).
My thought is, if you don't make the money you used to, then you can't afford the insurance you used to either. Since she doesn't plan on moving far, I don't know where she thinks she's going to find a place on her own for less than $1,000 a month in Kansas City.
If you are paying more in insurance and phone bill, than you can afford on rent, you need to drop that to your level of income, and fast, but I guess she won't learn that until I leave.
I am just very disappointed in her still acting like a 21 year-old.
