This is the letter I sent, but the names have been changed to protect the not so innocent.
I thought I would write this today, while it is still fresh in my memory. Ms. White, has yet to ask me to do fliers at anytime. Ms. Yellow has asked me about Wednesday and Thursday availability, but nothing saying that after last week to come in, or what the schedule would be.
Today, I had a month ago scheduled with Pink a meeting about Photoshop, and then updated the agenda to the meter bags as well. Yellow knew this. White apparently sent me a text message this morning, that I didn't receive due to a phone issue until after she told me of it. The message wasn't sent until 9:24, and asked if I was printing today.
White came back to the warehouse, and said I was desperately needed to immediately get started printing fliers. Pink, graciously said if fliers needed done, to go help her. Thirty minutes later, she was ready for me to start printing. The flier wasn't even ready to be started. She said about 11:30 that she might have me switch to Liberty, and then left the room. She never told me about lunch time, and I finished printing the flier she gave me around 1:30. Then I went to lunch, after informing her that I was done, and going to lunch. She said okay, and had no more than that.
When I got back, she was in the print room printing with Blue, and there seemed to be a flurry of activity. I grabbed my drinking bottle out of the way, and headed back to conclude my earlier appointment. White came back saying she couldn't get the paper cutter to work correctly in the middle of our discussion, and that I had to come help. Then, she informed me they were printing Liberty, and it, not Topeka, had to go out at 4pm that day. This was after 2:30. She then was telling me what I had to do, and implied that it was my fault for not switching to Liberty. When I recounted to her the days previous events, she had no counter facts, but refused to admit she was the erroneous one, or ask for help. This was quite disconcerting, as a person in charge of a section, I was very disappointed in her behavior. I let her know that she needed to ask for help, and to say please if she wanted it, because her lack of planning would be the only reason it wouldn't be done on time. She then said she didn't want to argue, and I repeated, that there was nothing to argue about, because she was supposed to be in charge, and the only job she gave me, I did, so the word to use to get my help would be please.
Without the word, she then left Blue and me in the room to sort out the mess.
If it wasn't for the program needing it, I wouldn't have helped, but within 30 minutes I had all the paper they requested cut, and then clocked back out and headed to my meeting with Pink for completion.
At no point, did she ask if I was printing tomorrow, nor imply that I should come in.
This is a common behavior trait of White, that many have expressed to me that they get infuriated with. While I remained calm, and didn't raise my voice to White, I am still disappointed in this behavior and lack of an honest request for help, or an admittance of fault on her part. With a tight hold on all pertinent information to do a job resting solely on her desk, I am unable to comfortably continue helping with fliers. I am issued only a count sheet, which is consistently altered. She blames others for her lack of knowledge on issues that she alone knows the answers to. She refuses to give foresight into the days events, preferring to keep all information to herself until one job is done, during which time I could have a jump start on many aspects of the next job, such as getting all the paper cut properly. While Ms. White can be quite generous and nice, her normal demeanor is that of superior to inferior and therein lacking respect. Today's attitude and actions brought this to the forefront of my mind. Much as her assuming that all work could be completed without so much as asking me if I was available, or even giving me a yay or nay when I asked her if she wanted me to print the fliers months ago.
I am only able to come in on Wednesday and Thursday if I am still needed, but I would appreciate you having a serious talk with her about learning some new managerial techniques if she wishes to have any further assistance from me.
Also, I am assuming she wishes me to be there tomorrow, and knows that my schedule dictates that I leave for St. Joseph around 3 or 3:30.
