Visit from the informal son

Apparently he has a good girlfriend traveling cross country with him.

They both drive F 150's, hers is newer, but not the one they drove from Seattle.

He is getting ready to go to Chicago for 6 months to learn how to program missiles and then he doesn't know.

She seemed nice from first glance, and they seem happy especially from traveling all the way from Seattle then down through Colorado to her folks and Grandparents.

So, it's great to see him and him happy more importantly.

I took them to lunch today, and maybe tomorrow they will roll out with my mom and us.

Getting Started with School

Printed off the syllabus for each course, and read the first two assigned chapters for the online course. If I can find time I'll be reading each week ahead for the chapters, it's about 150 pages a week or so. Total for all 3 maybe 200.

The online software is top notch. As are the E-Book applications, however, I have an old monitor... so it's a little bit harder on the eyes.

Oscars

I had fun at the first Oscar party I went to with at Melin's and with the guys. Of course I came in last in the picks though... Knew I shouldn't have voted with my favorites on the movies.

The show was actually pretty good, except for the fact that I didn't get home until 11:30, and had to work at 4 am.

21.2.09

Tomorrow's the day

Tomorrow I get my Syllabus for my courses. Apparently there may be some assignments before the first day of class.

I went to Half Price Books yesterday, and got 4 new books.

So far the first one I am reading was an excellent buy. I even found an old receipt inside for when it was bought in Minnesota for full price.

Ready?

To be ready for something or anything you must be able to meet this criteria:

1. You must put the task above the rest of your life.
2. You hold no animosity toward the task.
3. You're actions all return toward the task.
4. You don't feel the need to escape.
5. You are able to take a step back and look at what you're doing.
6. You take full responsibility for the outcome.

Whether it's a job, a child, or just an activity.

16.2.09

Rested

It's weird being rested.

I like it though.

Too bad it won't last for long.

Just a couple more days and I'll get my syllabus for each class off DeVry's site... no pressure to pass though that doesn't come from me.

Hope to stick with it enough that I can get my Bachelor's in May of 2011.

12.2.09

Where did it go

My voice has been going out on me for the last few days towards the end of the second or third class.... that means if it keeps up Saturday will be really bad.

I have not real idea why.

I just hope it stops soon.

I'd hate to have to throw stuff instead of talk.....

10.2.09

It's true

Too many police officers.
Too few officers of peace.

I heard a great talk about modern warfare today on the radio.

The end result was: why do we still wage wars?

A doctor who had treated so many Vietnam PTSD patients was on, talking about how it was at least 4 Vietnamese to 1 American with the problems left over from the war, and with so many soldiers knowing the hardships of war and bearing those psychological burdens how were they not teaching us the high cost of war of each other to the point that wars are not entered into lightly or quickly.

6.2.09

At least one month done

Well this month's budget is balanced.

I also went ahead and paid for the rest of my car insurance until May.

so that will save 300/month for 2 months

Then maybe just maybe I can have 1,461 ready to go by then.

The game plan is now to use the state return for Kohl's about 250. That's a bill I won't have to pay period then.

Usually my brother and his wife use their tax return to pay off their credit card for about a month. Which helps kind of.

I am going to suggest they only use half and instead of using the card set up a bank account and use it so they can stop paying check cashing fees. $3 x 52 = $156 a year, that's seemingly insignificant amount is going out to dinner 3 times for the whole family and then some.

Whatever my brother gives for rent is going to the savings for car insurance. That way if he does get me $500 in the next two months I'll only need 461 from me to pay it in full or less.

Over that my paychecks for the rest of the month are going to saving for next months bills while not looking to be near the 4,000 mark more like the 3,400 is still a significant chunk of change to come up with. Anything over that has to go towards the highest interest credit card first. With only 2,200 left on it.

5.2.09

A little birdy said

That Kansas has overreached itself and is keeping my tax money that they shouldn't have in the first place as hostage until their budget is better.

Sounds like B.S. to me.

I just hope I get the federal one soon. Mostly because it's already gone.

Notes from a test

Not for a test, but notes I took and have as yet not put in.

Respect
1st listen
2nd learn
3rd do
4th teach

Goal
Peaceful existence
Make next generation better
Teach to listen

Do you understand that all knowledge existed before & it is only new to you?

What lessons show this?

Iceman Vs. Pyro in X3:
"Go back to school!"
"You never should have left."

What does this demonstrate for life?

Do you respect?
How do you thank others?
Did you take time to listen?

In Life
Do you learn from mistakes?
Do you pass on your knowledge?
What do you respect?
Who do you respect?
How do you learn?
What do you learn from?

Counting Down

I have less than a month until I start school. Hooray for English class again....

Perhaps this will quit my "verbal vomiting," however, I have many times explained that I see everything as a circle, and therefore interconnected.
