Lost Business

The Advance Auto Parts off State Ave (5125) that just opened (7622 State Ave, Kansas City, KS 66112) almost lost my decade or so business with Advance Auto Parts today. They particularly did.

Last year, I purchased a set of wires from the store in Overland Park (6911), and they have a lifetime warranty at any Advance Auto Parts. The store at State Ave refused to order them in without payment up front, because they had become a special order. When I purchased them, they were not.

They were supposed to call to the other store and get the requisite information, but after an hour I called back and the manager had directed the employee not to do so, and did not have him call me back. When I asked for the manager to fix the issue, he refused. Obvious from his tone, was that he did not want to do the work that was required of him to fix my issue under warranty.

I asked if his suggestion was that I rent a vehicle and drive to the other store for better service, instead of walking the 6 blocks to his. He said, well no, you just have to pay nearly $60 now and when you get the item in it will be refunded, but he couldn't do anything until the item was in. I noted that in all my years, this is the first time anyone has said that for a warranty replacement.

I hung up, before I became agitated, and called the other store.

In less than 5 minutes the part was ordered without any incident.

As a commercial customer the response from the manager on duty at 5125 is not acceptable, and I will not bring my business back there. I am saddened to have spent over $100 there yesterday.

Ballin' Out

Went to CostCo twice in one day.

Got paid, so I had to go by Advance Auto Parts to get Oil Change gear for my car. Then, went to CostCo to get gas for me mum's car, and groceries. Came back to the casa, and realized I forgot a couple of things at CostCo, plus I forgot Oil Treatment for my car. I went ahead and changed the oil, and then went to Advance again to grab the Oil Treatment. Since my car also needed gas, I headed back to CostCo, and went ahead and picked up the two items I had forgotten.

All-in-all, I spent $115 on gas, $84 at Advance Auto, and $244 at CostCo (If you count the gas at CostCo too that's $354 at CostCo alone).

That's how $443 just floats away from you.

Hallway of Filth

After I spent about an hour mowing the back and front yards, I thought it would be a simple task to clean the hallway. However, it still took 10 buckets of cleaning. The exhaust fan with a simple wipe was probably 7 years cleaner. That then took at least 2 buckets by itself. The closet in the hallway that had been wiped out by me mum before she went to Italy still took a whole bucket to itself because she only cleaned off the shelves. The stairs to the attic, though today I was only doing the outward side took a bucket by themselves as well.

It appears that no tenant, nor in between cleaning crew has ever dusted. At least now, I have 3 rugs not in the rooms but in the hallway marking where the line of clean is.

3 "bedrooms," the attic, the bathroom, a closet in the dining area, and the hallway are now ceiling to floor clean.

Dining Area with pantry, kitchen, laundry/mud area, living room, and garage to go.

Perhaps I will be done by the time me mum gets back from Italy, and before Google Fiber is installed, but I cannot guarantee even that. So, I shall hope that at least next week the maintenance guys spend a day here getting the water in the shower up to standard pressure, and maybe replacing the window, shelf, and medicine cabinet whilst they are at it.
